Do you have a sump and skimmer?

I plan on running sumpless. I'm debating about doing a false rockwall to hold the heater, chaeto and some other stuff behind.
I've been debating about a skimmer though. The bioload in my tank should be low as I really dont plan on having a lot of fish.

I'd personally buy the skimmer before a controller. Just more important imo.

GFCI outlet, chemical media, jugs, tubs, hoses, ATO parts, MagFloat or similar, calcium, alk, mag test kits if/when you start keeping hard corals, and you may want to pickup a powerstrip if your RKL is the level 1, or a 2nd PC4.

Any ideas for a decent hang on skimmer?

I'm using an Aquac Remora HOB skimmer on my 65g FOWLR, works really well, although when its newly cleaned its a bit noisy. I'm thinking of modding it to sit in my sump, so the cabinet stand doors muffle the noise a little bit. But thats the only caveat I have had with it.
Well, I DID get it with the optional surface skimmer/bubble-reducer box, this box is enormous and I could never make it sit level so I removed it. I don't have micr-bubble issues anyways, and the skimmer works just fine without it.

Alan,
As far as skimmers go... I had an Aqua Medic T1000 hang-on skimmer on my 75 gallon for many years. It was a great skimmer and it has what I'd call "trickle" boxes that return water to the tank. They really don't draw much attention to them as compared with the sponge like microbubble boxes that come on other skimmers. They are also no adjustments necessary with his skimmer which is nice. As you know, Ive got the Coralife Super Skimmer (125g) on my sump now. Actually a pretty good skimmer. It is water level dependent, but no biggie once it's set. You should come by to see the updates sometime! Let me know ifyou need anything. -B

Oh. I'd also recommend that you upgrade atleast one of those Koralias to a Koralia 4.
Happy fishing!

I agree. I'm running x2 k3's and wish at least one of them was a 4. Definately buy a skimmer! All the above mentioned skimmers are good, I used an octopus hob for a little while and it worked well. Good luck

How about the most over-looked equipment item in the hobby: Generator. Sadly, most of us never seem to think of its necessity until the power is out and we're scrambling. As an adjunct to that, an "emergency" kit of power cords, splitters, and a plan to get them in use quickly is also helpful.

I was actually looking at the octopus hobs for the skimmer and I'll probably end up going that route.
I ended up getting a RO/DI from NanoReef and that saved me about 85 bucks off what I was originally going to spend on it so that might open up some more options in the budget. Upgrading to the K4 is simple enough. I'd consider the generator for the house, not something for the tank alone :P I was meaning to ask how the tank was coming along Blake. Did everyone make it through alright?

You might think about an emperor 400 to hang on the back. It would give good surface disruption and gives you a place to add any media that you may need like carbon or phosguard. Just remember to leave the wheels off.

I've been debating between the Emperor and an AquaClear. I really dislike how the Emperors look, but they have the nice dual "ramps" back into the tank.
