Marine Depot Experience

Hello,

I just made an order from Marine Depot and it arrived today. I had ordered some Gracilaria algae and velvet sea slugs.

The order arrived this morning. The bags were floated, but upon observation, it appeared at least three of the poor critters were not doing well at all and most probably dead. Since my experience is limited with these, I decided to acclimate as normal. After floating, water from the tank was added over probably an hour to slowly acclimate them to my tank. I released them and sure enough it did look to my uneducated eye that they were dead. The last seemed sluggish at best.

After coming back later in the day, yep only was alive, but not sure if it was going to make it. I was worried I did not acclimate well enough, but given the arrival condition.......

I did call and ask about it, but since it is a restricted species there is no warranty. I guess I figured that was only on introduction to the tank, not via DHL early in the morning.

Well regardless to say, lesson learned. I have been trying to find a vendor to replace my beloved Flying Fish Express, I will probably keep looking. Marine Depot does seem reputable from what everyone sees, maybe my experience is isolated.

The algae was fine though and was quickly being eaten by the tangs.

Overall my experience has been positive with ordering online, but as you order, the real proof is what they will do when there is a problem or concern. So choose well and good luck.
