bleached coral pls help

Ok so, I had a smallish frag of green birds nest fall down behind my rockwork and I couldn't find it till the other day. The base of it was pure white and the polyps are still the bright green. They are opening nicely and other than the base being white it looks o.k. I have had the frag near the top of the tank for about 1 week now after finding it. No color has come back yet. Should I just leave it where it is since the polyps are opening and the frag otherwise seems ok or move it to the bottom so it could recover its natural color?

Oh and before someone suggests it, the white base color isn't dead skeleton. It is obvious that the tissue is still there.

Just put it back where it was pre-fall (if it was happy there) and give it some time, if its heathly flesh the color will come back.

See, that was my thought too. But I was thinking to move it down to the sand for a little while because everyone always talks about lowering bleached corals so they could adjust to the light.

It doesn't need to acclimate to your lighting because its been in your lighting for some time. I would just put it back where it was happy in the first place and hope for the best.

I second that idea of not changing a winning combination.
