frag tank lighting?

Hello all, I have a few questions about the frag tank I am currently setting up. I have taken a 40 gall. and split it with about a third of it as a fuge. and two thirds as a frag grow out tank.I have 2 options for lighting and wonder which would be better. I have either a power compact ballast that will run 2 96 watt bulbs or a 175 watt halide. The pc would be long enough to cover the fuge and ft and I don't know if the halide to the side would work for the fuge. I have mostly just lps and softies but would like to have the option of sps in the future. They are about 6-8" from the light. I am trying to learn more about a frag tank and any direction is much appreciated.

I would run the halide alone for the frags, should give better growth. You could run a small light on the fuge, it doesn;t need anything special, I run a $7 clip on from walmart!
