what is wrong with my mushshroom?

For the last few weeks I have been getting this white stringy stuff growing on or coming out of the mushroom. Any ideas what it could be? Also can you tell me what kind of mushroom it is?

Thanks

Hard to tell for sure from the pic, but it looks like the spirally white insides of mushrooms. They typically only eject that stuff if they get damaged or really stressed. Since verything looks relatively happy, I am going to guess that something picked at it or damaged. It should pull it all in and disappear once it heals if it isn't still getting bothered. May take a few days. Maybe check underneath it and make sure there isn't something snacking from below.

I hope so, crabs may have climbed on it but I am not sure. Is there anything I can do to help it?

Nothing you can do. Just leave it alone, chances are it will be fine.

There are some solutions you may want to research, they are disinfectants made for aquaculture. When you cut the tissue it is vulnerable to infection, etc so you squirt it with these disinfectants. I will see if I can find a link for you

Coral Dip
Coral ReVive
Reef Dip
etc
etc

I haven't personally used them so I can't give a review.
