skimmer for 1200 gallon aquarium
I am currently setting up a 1200 gallon shark aquarium approximately 1500 total gallons in the system, and have been trying to decide on a skimmer. I was wondering if anybody has used a HSA 3000 skimmer before and what there opinion was of it, I would like to use a dart reeflo pump on it. here is a link to the skimmer http://www.marinetechnical.com/page2.html. I am open to suggestions for a different skimmer the I have also been looking at etss skimmers aswell. also anybody use the smaller RK2 skimmers, like the rk2 rk25-pe protein skimmer. here is a link to the rk2 skimmer http://www.customaquatic.com/estore/...uct=PS-RK25-PE. I am just looking for some opinions.
thanks in advance |

That would be a good choice in a skimmer for that setup. They are extremely well made and are one of the true rated skimmers out there and the price isnt all that bad, theres only one problem with those type of skimmers and that is the pumps they require draw the electric but if you got to have it, you got to have it. I have a clone of the 1000 model on 900 gallons and it does a good job with the Little Giant # 4 pump and only draws 87 watts but my skimmer uses the Mazzeri injector not the Beckett.

No clue if they are worth their money... ER has their RC 2000 & RC4000 with the 4000 using a hammerhead NW pump.
Love to see a huge cone skimmer for that size tank...... hate to see the price |

I use the RK25. It is a good skimmer but I think you can do better.
Precision Marine XL series are great. The quad beckett MRC skimmers do great. This tank uses one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zh6Cz_H8Uhg The bubble kings are awesome but sport an equally impressive price tag.

Both are excellent I say however the rk2 skimmers are commercial grade and include advanced features such as a wash down system and integrated ozone controller. The PM skimmers are consumer grade though the build quality is excellent. If I could afford an rk2 skimmer I'd buy one.
