LF online Live rock an i have a few questions

A few questions
  • Whos, or what rock is currently recommended these days. Looking for quality rock but not the most expensive either. Probably Medium to large in size. whats a fair price per pound to have rock shipped.
  • Do folks still buy rock for critters, or is that not the thing anymore due to unwanted aminimal.
  • From what i understand trocus snails are better than astria\turbo snail, because they can flip themselves back over. whos sells these snails in bulk. I checked reftopia, but they dont carry them.

personally i like dead rock better cause there are too many pests on live rock. big snails like mexican turbos are the only ones that put a dent in algae. light porous non-lava rock is the best. like dead coral.

I see by your avatar you are in Fla. You might try these guys, they are a RC supporter, and those who have bought rock have had good things to say.

LiveAquaria.com and BlueZooAquatics.com both sell Trochus snails.

Premium Aquatics has torchus snails too. I have 9 in my 90 gallon reef and they have done great work. They also carry Fiji LR also.

I know from previous posts that they allow you to pick the rock at their facilities as well, which drops off about $1/lb. on the purchase price of the rock, maybe more since they actually charge a packaging fee alongside shipping the rock.
