moving to a new house must move tank

ok guys i have a question, i am moving to a new place this weekend and will be moving my tank as well. i am currently running it fishless due to a ich outbreak i had about 6-8 weeks ago. my question is should i wait a week or so after i move it to slowly start adding new fish or am i making a big deal out of nothing?

Are you going to reuse the water in the tank or dump it and start fresh? What are you going to do with any animals or critters that you have? Personally, I'd wait to add fish back to the tank. You're already 6-8 weeks into treatment. I'd wait that much longer before adding animals again. Make sure that you've completely broken the reproduction cycle.

You say you are running it fishless, do you still own the fish?

(knock on wood) I've never had saltwater ich but when I got it in my F/W tanks I would bump the temperature up in the aquarium to a high but sustainable fish level. This would have the benefit of decreasing the reproduction cycle of ich. Since you removed all of your fish, I would think that you could have bumped it up even more. Did you ? If not, then MCOOMER is on the right track with continuing the wait. It'll take some time for the water to clear up anyway :-)

If you've already completed your fallow time, you don't technically have to wait to add the fish back as long as you are moving everything in a timely manner. Don't leave your LR out of water or do anything that might cause another cycle and you should be just fine. Of course it wouldn't hurt to let the tank sit a week or so so you can get everything in order, especially if you've already got the fish in separate containers.

Increasing the water temperature actually speeds up the reproduction cycle, which means the ich will die off more quickly without a host. If you have placed your fish is a QT tank, they still may be carrying ich unless you've treated with hyposalinity or copper.

Good luck with your new tank...

thank you all for the replies, the fish i had a friend of mine took them for me and attempted to treat them, no luck. i guess they were just too far gone, i am still pretty new to this and he has been doing it for years so i figured who better right? anyways all i have left in the tank is a few misc snails, misc hermits and a rather large condy nem. oh i also have a few pieces of ricordia. it seems to me that almost everyone here agrees that it would be a good idea to wait a week or so though?
