VHO socket/caps burnt-melted

One of my sockets on my VHO's is burnt and melted. They are basically T-12 140 watt bulbs manufactured by Fulham --Workhorse 7 ballast. The bi-pin of bulb attached to the same socket is toast and falling out of bulb.

Replacing the socket is no problem.. and the ballast appears to be fine because it's providing power to the other side of the bulb.

I will replace socket this weekend, but I was wondering if any of you ran into this situation before.....

I have - a few times when i didnt have a good connection, and i would bump the bulb causing it to move. I could hear the electricity burning the cap. I learned to stop playing with lights while they were on...the lights were on rollers that i could slide back and forth for tank access
