green hair algae

Just wondering, would a Tang help this problem or should I figure something else out how to get rid of it? Seems like its only on the left side of my tank. Flow seems fine on both sides, not sure what else to do?

use ro/di water, ignore it: it's a phase. If it gets very bad, you have a lot of phosphate and need to remove it. A fish that eats it will only return it to the water.

Salinity 1.024-6; alkalinity 8.3-9.3 on KH scale; calcium 420; magnesium 1300, temp 78-80, nitrate .2. Ammonia 0. No filters: lps tank. Alk and cal won't rise if mg is low.

Current Tank Info: 105g AquaVim wedge, yellow tang, sailfin blenny, royal gramma, ocellaris clown pair, yellow watchman, 100 microceriths, 25 tiny hermits, a 4" conch, 1" nassarius, recovering from 2 year hiatus with daily water change of 10%.

Emerald crabs, urchins (will also eat coralline though), large turbos. Macro to help reduce nitrates. Also note, while these critters may eat the hair algae you must still address the cause of the outbreak so it doesn't happen again.

(and based on your avatar, you are going to be one upset fan when LeBron leaves )

lol, I would actually like to see him stay in Cleveland since he brought such prestige to that team. You can go ahead and laugh at me cuz my team is the Golden State Warriors. However, Larry Ellison (4th richest man in the world; CEO of Oracle and has naming rights to Oracle Arena or the "Roaracle") wants to buy our team. Hopefully he does and shows Mark Cuban how its done

how old are your lights old bulbs will breed green algae, you can do waterchanges and scrub the rock with toothbrush or raise the magnisium up a bit and it will kill it off but really need to figure out why its there so you can keep it gone once you rid it

A Mex. Turbo and skim heavy should take care of the problem if its just a phase like the above stated. If not you need to dig a little deeper and find the source.

I have had a batch of it crop up the last two weeks. Interestingly, it is mostly on the side of the tank that gets the least sunlight. I keep testing really low nitrogen and phosphates. Both at home, and at two LFS. The last time, he also tested phosphates (even though I use RODI) and they, too, were at zero. Just waitin' and prayin', but I wish there was something ACTIVE to do - other than pick it off!
