One more question...I swear
Ok, I have these polyps that are brown that are about 1/4-1/2 inch high(they have a stalk) that have these eyelash like projections and they are usually flat like plates or close up when eating, they have a mouth in the middle.
Anywho, sometimes they will look like they are...droopy? they completly lay their tentacles down against their stock. Does this mean too much light or lack of light or neither?? Just resting? |

Hey Costellow - well, this is a short question that could have a long, long answer, or a relatively short one. I'll have to answer with a bunch of follow up questions. The polyps sound like "palys" or button polyps. Hard to say without a picture.
First, we'll need to know a few more things so we can get a bead on what's up: 1) Current water parameters for as many as you can test for. Temp, Specific Gravity, nitrate, pH at bare minimum. 2) Tank size, lighting, age, and filtration method (sump? Skimmer?) 3)Has the coral been there a long period of time or have you moved it or recently? - more specifically closer or further from the light source? How long have you had it? 4)How much livestock do you have? Has that recently changed? 5)What's your feeding routine for the tank? Let's start there and see what we can determine - our answer may reveal itself with what you can provide. |

Also what percentage of the time are they up as compared to droopy? And does it happen about the same time of day? Or after some specific event, like feeding?
If they keep coming back to being up and look healthy, it's prbably not a BIG issue, but one worth asking about until you are sure. Ron |
