Help with water levels.
My new saltwater tank is doing great! 0 Nitrite, 0 Ammonia, 8.2 Ph. The only problem is that my nitrates remain a little high. I have a 55 gallon FOWLR tank. 2 bangghi cardinals, 2 parrotfish, 6 hermit crabs and a scooter blennie. Is this a problem? I cycled the tank for 3 weeks, tested everyday. Ammonia spiked, now back down to zero.

The problem is adding that many fish after 3 weeks. In a tank that size, I wouldn't add more than two fish at a time. Another issue is I don't believe there are any parrotfish that are suitable for a 55g tank. They all get pretty big, and may not play nice with your other fish which are all pretty docile. Your bioload is very high for a tank your size, so the high nitrates are not at all surprising. The good news is, nitrates are not particularly harmful to saltwater vertebrates at any concentration we're likely to see in an aquarium. It may be harmful to your hermit crabs, though. My suggestion would be to return, sell or give away the parrotfish, and your tank should be more manageable.
