How soon do TDS drop after new filters & membrane on my RO?

So I hooked up my RO last night and have let it fill up about 3 gallons worth of water. My TDS are still the same.

How soon should it drop? I'm starting to think something is not right.

btw - I have put brand new pre filters and a brand new membrane in.

should have been immediate, something is wrong. check make sure you don't have your effluent lines hooked up backwards come out of the membrane

oh, and are you sure you seated the membrane all the way in, it has 2 gaskets on it, not easy to get it seated all the way in and if not, the effluent will come out with elevated tds.

I think the membrane is not seated all the way.

I'm going to reinsert it right now.

That's what she said.

I tried it one more time. Only this time I dug up the directions that came with it from the trash. They say to place the filter in without applying force so that it protrudes out. Then to screw the cap on and let that pressure push it in.

ill post results

Same problem.
Any idea what is wrong with it??

The RO unit is a 4 year old Coralife RO unit.
All the filters are brand new

Is it an in-line TDS or handheld

After emailing back and forth with Jim from 'The Filter Guys', we pinpointed what is the problem.

The unit that I have originally came with a 24 gpd membrane, so the flow restrictor located in the unit matches it.

I removed that flow restrictor from the elbow fitting and ordered and inline flow restrictor (supposedly the best kind) that matches my membrane.

Jim was really helpful. If you guys ever have problems, I would suggest contacting him from off the website www.thefilterguys.biz

i was going to say your pressure was too high. thats the problem mine had, it wasnt a filter from these guys, but it was sending my tds fairly high.
