x                                x
x -->                       <--  x
x                                x

alternating, of course but the key question is - have the powerhead output pointed at the reef, or at the front glass going for a dispersion effect?

Personally, with only two sources of flow, I prefer to have them in the rear corners, pointing towards the front center glass so that the flow intersects.

I do A with them pointing slightly towards the front glass. Not sure my fish would like B, seems like it would make them swim funny.

both at the same time. the intersecting flows make random, turbulent secondary currents.
