Clownfish Changing colors. What do I do???
I have a black and white and an orange and white percula clownfish. They have been in the tank for 2 weeks now and the orange one started to turn dark almost black along his dorsal fin a couple days ago and is progressively getting darker. I am still fairly new to the hobby and am worried that something might be wrong. I have tested the water and everything is perfect. the tank has had a full cycle and none of the other livestock seems affected. Any knowledge would be greatly appreciated. thanks

although I haven't particularly heard about clowns doing this, but some fish can turn black when stressed. Do you notice any heavy breathing, or erratic behavior? How fast has the color change been? Also, how big were they when you bought them?

Is the fish "hosting" in anything. Alot of corals actually irritate the clownfish and can cause them to darken in color.

Is the orange/white one larger of the two? If so, it may becoming female & darkening up a bit. Mine did.

I had a clown that hosted some zoathigs and eventually it's belly started having black pigment almost until it was completely black. It hosted them so much that it eventually killed the zoas in the area and over time the pigment went back to the normal orange color.
