I was given some Seachem stuff (Should I use it?)
Well my friend got me a gift and decided to give me some random reef stuff lol.
So I am not even sure if I should use these things. 1. Seachem Reef Builder Raises Carbonate Alkalinity 2. Seachem Reef Advantage Calcium Raises Calcium 3. Seachem Stability The instruction on all products say to dose twice a week... I am really new to this whole supplement thing for reef tanks. I do have all the test kits so I'll test out my water tomorrow after class. Thanks alot! |

thats very nice of your friend. it's a good product, you don't need it with such a small tank though, water changes will supply all the stuff you need

even in small tanks you have ph drops depleted calium you should keep testing depending on your animal load water changes may be enough if you do them but most salt does not contain enough elements if the tank is low on them to begin with

If you are testing for it go for it. if not, I wouldn't add a thing.

Seachem Stability is bacteria in a bottle. For mature tanks with adequate live rock you don't need to add it. The bacteria on the rock is adequate enough.

Only use Seachem Stability when first setting up the tank. Once it matures, no need to add more of this.

I would gift away the stability, you don't need it anymore. Keep the reef buider and the advantage calcium, and put them away in the closet for now. Don't use then, yet. For an early tank, good salt crystals and water changes are all you need. Whe you start keeping livestock that start consuming calcium, ie coral, then they can come into use to augment your water changes.
