Cloudy tank...
I decided to use carib sea aragonite dry sand in my 24 gallon nano cube. I thought I rinsed the sand thoroughly but the tank has been very cloudy since I added it on Saturday. I have a sponge and a few bags of carbon in the back chambers. Is there anything else I can do to help clear up this dust?
Thanks |

I added my aragonite sand without rinsing it and my water looked like milk. I put a sock on my return to the sump and about 6 hours later it was perfectly clear.
How much flow is running through your sponge ? Do you have any powerheads sturing up the sand ? Cam

I have a stock pump in the third chamber and a nano koralia. Where should I add a sock filter?

Should there be a lot of flow going through the sponge?

The more flow the faster it should clear up, unless you have so much flow that it is kicking up a sand storm.

Given you don't have a sump, a sock is not a viable option for you. A sponge is very porous and the small particles will make it through, so you would be better suited using a very dense filter floss or pad. Don't worry too much, it will eventually clear up, should only take a day or two. When I filled my 180, I couldn't see the back of the tank for about 12 hours, then it slowly started clearing up, and after about 36 hours it was nice and clear.
