Just got some dry rock from BRS - looks nice
I plan to do some work on my tank and wanted to get some new rock. Several people suggested Marcorocks. I figured I would try someplace else just to see how things compare. I ordered 44 pounds of dry rock from Bulk Reef Supply.
$113 including shipping to Horseheads. All 44 pounds 12 pounds "Reef Saver" at $2.69/pound this is really nice stuff. Lots of large holes, low density. I'll have to see how it looks in the tank. 12 pounds shelf at $2.69/pound. Also looks really nice. I got one large slab over ten pounds and a smaller chunk. 20 pounds "mixed" at $1.34/pound. one large piece of what looks like dry Fiji (lower right) and four other good size chunks. Two are really low density. Overall I am very happy. This is much nicer than the CaribSea stuff I bought previously. I'll have to see how it all works out once in the tank. It was shipped quickly and very little rubble. Should make a nice addition to the tank and at less than $3/pound. Hope to get it seeded and coralline covered up quickly. Dave

Looks like you've got a nice mix to work with Dave. Last year I got around 115lbs from Marcorocks. Very nice rock but it took forever to colonize the typical living additions and grow coralline. Since patience is a requirement in this hobby... it worked out just fine for me.

Dave looks pretty nice especially that shelf rock. I just recently purchased 50lbs of that from Marco Rocks. Now throw it in your tank and lets see some new scape's.

Hey Jim, do you know how long it takes this stuff to seed? Does it release phosphates (I assume it is dried out ocean rock, yes? Do they bleach it out, how do they clean it?)? This may be a great option for my new 56g column. I certainly don't have enough rock to fill it. Of course, I'm still working on designing a stand, so it'll be a while. -A

No more will go in!” the professor blurted. “You are like this cup,” the master replied, “How can I show you Zen unless you first empty your cup.” Current Tank Info: 56g, 20g. |
