flex tube and barb fittings...
should i use a zip tie to attach flex tube to barb fittings?
or is there something else i should use? sorry for the noob q, but i just don't know. |

I used the metal clamps that screw over the hose. Zip ties might work well enough, but the clamps make maintenance a bit easier, IMO.

no if under water, use the plastic hose claps that ratchet close.

I agree, use only plastic under water. Sorry, I was thinking of other situations.

indeed. been there several times. think i'm gonna try and do the fuge on one side and the sump on the other with the return in the middle.

I would use these plastic snap clamps regardless of whether it is under water or not. They are easy to clamp/undo (faster than the metal ones) and will not corrode over time. The only downside is that they are generally not readily available locally. They are cheap enough to make it affordable to order a bunch at a time online though.

The plastic clamps are great, zip ties do not seem to work in my experience.

I have metal on my flex pipe not underwater, but have nothing on the one underwater. It seems to fit nice and tight and doesn't come off
