Smile Capt. Dooner's New 170g Aquarium

Just thought I would post some pics of our new 170g bowfront aquarium (fish only) that I am in the process of installing in the wall. Don't be too hard on me.

Don't see the blade burns. They will be sanded. The top will have doors that open upward. The middle door has a hole where to feed.

This shows how big it is. That wall is 10' high.

Hope you can see the bow.

This is the closet behind it. It's in the garage. I put two 36" doors together so I can have plenty of room to access.

Doors open. The back of the aquarium. There should be plenty of room for all equipment needed.
It will all look better with doors, trim, and finish to match cabinet next to it.
Thanks for looking.

Agreed, looks like you are on to a good start.

Any air ventilation in there?

Thanks guys.

JasonBJones- I have two vents on the ceiling that I have to decide which way I want to use them. I could seal around the doors and hook them to the AC unit, and add a return air vent below. Or, I can hook them to a power roof vent that I don't have to use any more, and put the thermostat control in the closet to turn it on and off.
I am leaning torward using the power vent to see if it maintains the temp. Then if it doesn't, I can always do the other.

Well, here is where I am now. I guess it's OK. As long as the wife is happy, I'm happy.

The guys from Omni Aquarium Service in Temple Texas will be here Tuesday morning to set up everything. I hope I can get finish with what I want done by then.
I have a unique idea for a background and overflow cover. I should be starting that tomorrow. I don't want to let the cat out of the bag till I have a pic of what I did. I do know that I haven't seen anything like this anywhere.
Until next time.

OK. Here is the update.
The guys from Omni service of Temple, Teaxs were here on Tuesday the 16th (3/16/10), and did a great job with setting everything up and explaining things to us. I finished my unique overflow cover a couple days later, and I like it a lot. I am thinking about carrying that onboth sides of the background. Kind of giving it a sunkin' battleship or submarine look. I like things to be different, and I haven't found any backgrounds that I really like.
We have two Dominos, two Black Clowns, one Orange Clown, And a half purple/half yellow fish that I can't remember what they called it.

Enjoy.

I know is a fish only tank, but those fake corals and the background are not working for me. All that fake stuff looks ok now but it will make the tank look dirty and ugly in a few months.

I like the "frame" you built. Did you decide what are you doing for ventilation in "the fish room"?

What do you mean when you say the fake stuff will make it look dirty and ugly?

Right now, it has a natural draft ventilation. I will see that still works during the summer.

Algae coating. You will have to do some pretty diligent toothbrush work to keep those artificial corals looking good.

Would good water circulation in the tank help prevent it some?
