Taking my tank down - livestock for sale - SOLD!
Hi all,
My 45g is not doing very well and I had planned on taking it down this summer, but I'm afraid to wait that long. I'm not selling everything nor am I getting out of the hobby. At this point, I just need to get rid of my livestock and get the tank "offline", so to speak. Here's what I have off of the top of my head (I will go through my tank tonight and get pictures together): I have LARGE pieces of green slimer. They are probably 4" to 5" and have begun branching out on the tips. $20 each. I have a lot of birdsnest. Small frags of a couple of branches (probably 3 or four inches total coral per frag) are $10 each. Its not super pink in my tank, but I know it has been in the past and likely would in a better tank. Next up is ORA German Blue. I have large chunks of this coral for $20 each. They are probably 3" to 5"s each with 3 to 7 branches. There are probably a total of 4 or 5 pieces. Its a large colony. If someone wanted the whole colony, I would sell it for $50. I'll put pics up later tonight. I have a large, well encrusted rainbow monti that is a little bit dull right now, but is very healthy. It has a small mark on it from where my salinity got too low several months ago, but its been growing over itself once I corrected the issue. $30. Its probably a 2" tall COMPLETELY encrusted frag that I know will color up nicely. ***Now... above is my SPS. Something I want to be clear on is that I have red turf algae. This will not be an issue with my SPS as they will be unmounted and live coral only, however, with the following softies (and the ones I had later) there is a chance of getting some in your tank. Please be aware of this. I've heard from several people in the club that turbos chew through the stuff now problem, but I just want to be clear. *** Large green hairy mushrooms: $5 each. A pair of SA Onyx Perculas: $40. I've had these guys about a year. Really cool fish and haven't filled in completely with their black. Royal Gramma: $10 I may have my mandarin for sale, too. However, she eats frozen and I'm fairly sure she and my tail spot blenny may be going into my tank at work. I may have some equipment up for sale later. Right now I just need to get my tank down. Let me know if you would like to see any pics. I'll try to post some tonight when I'm not in class. Heh... Thanks! Brandon

Local, yes! I hate to see a fellow reefer take a tank down but you have the Nanocube as well and you're still going to be reefing. I think I'd definitely like the clownfish pair. Some of the shrooms would fit well in my tank. If you have anymore softies in there I might be interested. Can't take the dive into SPS just yet. Let me know a good time and place and I can come meet you as soon as today if possible.

I will see what I can find, Tim. There may be a few flakes left over.
Fishtails, its just time for this tank to come down. It was my first tank from 2.5 years ago and its time to move on and try to improve! Not to mention I'm wanting to do MH now instead of my T5HOs. At least after we get moved. I've gotcha down for the clowns. I'm not sure when I'm going to be able to get them out, though. And yes, I will be selling my rock as I'm going to go with Marco Rocks. It will need to be bleached, though, and re-cycled to get all the algae off of it. Gotcha down, Bill. I can send it through Zach no problem. Thanks all! I will get the rest of my corals (still have a lot to go) and pics later. Brandon

Thanks Brandon! I have always been the same. Actually I had a 45G with T5's a few years back. Got bored with it and broke it down. Eventually got me a 40B and threw some halides on it. If you've got any softies or some hardier LPS (frogspawn, etc) I'd definitely want to purchase some corals. I want a few of those mushrooms as well.
And the rock, I'll let him know. He's planning on FOWLR. Any idea of how much per Lb you'd want? |

Probably $2/lb on the rock. I've got some huge, beautiful shelf pieces. Really, I may end up keeping them. Not 100% sure just yet.
OK, I have a more thorough list now, thanks to my wife helping me organize everything. Here is the complete list minus what has been purchased: **********SPS********** Green Slimer: A few more stalks left at 4" to 5". Some of them are also already branching. Here is the coral as it is now (taken tonight): Pink Birdsnest: $5 small frag, $40 whole colony This is a large pink birdsnest colony. If anyone wants the whole thing, you are more than welcome to it. It is a really pretty colony, but some of the bottom of it has red turf on it, so you would want to cut that part away and toss it. If no one shows any interest in it as is, I may chop it up into the largest turf-free frags I can and relist. Green tort: $20 Very interesting growth pattern on this one. Its a nice mini-colony that was on a plug and completely grew and encrusted over the rock it was on. Its just to the right of and kind of behind the blue tort in this next picture. It looks more brown than anything, but it actually has a fair green hue to it. While we're at it, the blue tort mini-colony is also in the above pic. It has a large 3.5" or so branch off of the end of it and several 1" along the rest of it. $40. The blue on this coral is beautiful and in my tank at work the stalk developed a green over blue type color with the tips bright blue. Love this one! Also seen in the above picture is the large mini-colony (if that can be) of green digi. Really neat growth patter on this one. It was on a plug and grew all over the plug and started branching out. Kinda neat. $20 Not shown, but I have a well-encrusted mini-colony of Tyree tricolor. He's been in a fight with the frogspawn lately and didn't fare too terribly well, but has plenty of chance to come back and grow over its old skeleton. $15 I also have a large piece of purple bonzai that is not colored up super well and also has a few tips that died for some unknown reason. $15 Also not pictured is a large "seen better days" purple-rimmed green cap. This coral looks great when fully colored up. $15 Here's a picture from earlier: Last but not least, I've got a good sized tabling acro. I've heard its a candlelight acro, but I've seen some other names for it, too. You can't see the colors real well in this photo because its been in the shadow of the slimer, but its a really nice bright yellow-ish green tipped coral. $40

**********LPS**********
Large frogspawn: $50 It probably has 20 or so heads and is about 10" across. There is very little red turf on this guy that could easily be scraped off. From tonight: Candy Cane/Trumpet Coral: $20 This guy has a lot of red turf algae, so he will not be for the faint of hear (and is also cheap for the same reason ): **********Softies********** Tons of these. On most of the paly/zoa frags, you will want to frag them off of what they're on and put them on something fresh and sans algae. Watermelons: $25 Has probably around 50 or so polyps. Love these guys. Kind of a classic, I suppose. Nuclear greens/purple deaths: $5 / polyp Armor of God's: $5 (probably 5 polyps or so... not too many) Sky People Eaters: $5 / polyp I absolutely love these guys. Bright sky blue, almost white with a NEON green mouth. Here's an older pic of them before they brightened up: I've also got an orange and blue shroom that is really cool. I don't know how to describe him other than that. $10 Grandis/cinnamon palys: $5 / polyp, all for $40 (probably 15 polyps or so). These guys are pretty cool and I've got a few greens and a few blues. Red with white bump mushrooms: $5 each. These are your standard red mushrooms. Large blue-striped mushroom: $20. I kind of hate to get rid of this guy... really large and very beautiful color: And, of course, the green hairy mushrooms: $5 each. **********Fish********** Royal Gramma: $10 Big guy. Got him from Reeftopia almost 3 years ago. Tail-spot blenny: $20 Thought about keeping this guy, but I think I'll keep the mandarin instead. **********Large Conch********** Got this guy and he is just too big for my tank. $5 He's pretty big, too. About the size of an average fist. The last one I got from ReefTopia was like 2" long. This guy is more like 4" long. I think that's pretty much it. Let me know if you have any questions. Some of my equipment will be for sale later. Brandon
