Refugium photoperiod
Hey people!
I just built my refugium and I´d like to know what´s the best photoperiod and illumination for Caulerpas algae... is the 24/7? The inverse of main tank photoperiod? Thanks! Elder

reverse is how most of us run the timer on the sump. This is to offset the PH swing overnight.

Ok, thanks!
What´s the problem or "damage" if lighting is 24/7?? I didn´t understand the technical problem....

elder_luis, it's largely speculation and anecdotal evidence at this point. I prefer 12 hours myself. You'll find people telling you 24/7 reduces the risk of caulerpa going sexual and you'll also find the other way around.

So, there´s no pacific point about this theme. I´ll test different ways (12 hours/day and then.... .... 24/7) and see what´s the best for my reef.
Thanks
