West Chester PA?
Anyone know of any fish stores in or around West Chester PA? Gonna be there for St. Patty's day. I know that pet place is about an hour away I just don't want to drive that far.

I'm in West Chester PA. There's Fish Man in Delaware, you just go down 202S, go into Wilmington, and it's on the right side, right before Astra Zenica. When the big building is getting close, the really tall one, slow down and get in the right lane because FishMan is coming up. They really don't have much stock so it might not be worth the 20-30 minute drive, depending on how fast you drive.
There's also Captain nemos which has better selection, along with a 5 thousand gallon shark aquarium. They have some acropora, and a lot of soft corals and LPS. That's about 45 minutes from the borough though. You get on 202N and just stay on that, go past King Of Prussia Mall, keep going 202N over the bridges. Eventually you'll make a right on Germantown pike, than make another right on Dekalb pike, and enter the shopping center and it's in there. You'll see all the clown fish and Tangs on the outside windows. To get back just follow the signs for 202S and follow signs for West Chester when you get to King of Prussia again. Take that all the way to West Chester pike exit, make a right at the light and that takes you back into the borough. The borough is technically West Chester so I'm giving that to you as your point of reference. I never go to That fish place because I hate the amish, so someone else will have to help you with that. West Chester is one of the top places to live in the country, and we can't get a good fish store near us, it's rediculous. Also, don't waist time going into any of the treasure Islands near us, they litterally have nothing. I walk into there saltwater section which is 2 or 3 55 gallon tanks, they are all empty. Once in a while there's a clown fish in there. HTH. Last edited by lougotzz; 03/13/2010 at 04:04 PM. |

Captain Nemo's sounds like more of a possibility it's on the way back home so maybe we can stop. I have to check with the boss and see what she wants to do. I do want to go to that fish place but it's not up to me.

What are you gonna do take the PA Turnpike and go just run into the Jersey Turnpike? If that's the case to get to Nemos, you would actually have to pass your exit going onto the PA turnpike and just continue straight for about 20 minutes, you gotta go through the borough of Norristown, than make a right on Germantown pike.

Oh theres also the Frazier zoo. I don't know if it's SW though, Ive only been in there once a long time ago before I got into reefing. You go up 202N and get off at the 1st Frazier exit, than just stay on the road going straight, there will eventually be a shopping center on the left side, it's in there. It is fairly large, I may go in there to check it out actually. It's only like 15 minutes away.

I myself want to go to thatfishplace sometime soon. Like autococker3 I live near Atlantic City, and most of the time drive to the Hidden Reef in Levittown, PA. There's also a frag farmer in that area with an awesome selection of SPS. I met him at MACNA in Atlantic City this past September.
Since then, all my frags have come from him at great prices. Not mentioning here as this is not the place, so if you're interested you can always PM me and I can put you in contact with him. |

i like the fish factory over the hidden reef, just my opinion of course, if you are going to drive all that way to levitown, it is just around the corner, on 413 next to club risque'. if your boss is anything like mine you won't get to check out risque, but the fish factory has a nice selection of saltwater fish and corals, you are looking at about an hour drive, maybe a little less, i am directionly challanged,

Don't waste your time at the fishman in delaware. Go to http://www.eastcoastaquatics.com/ or
the http://frazerzoo.com/ Both stores have a wide selection of reef supplies and livestock with fair prices. if you want to make the drive into Newark about 40 mins from West Chester Delawares Premium Aquatics is worth checking out as well,http://www.premiumaquaticsde.com/ Last edited by andrewk529; 03/13/2010 at 09:45 PM. |

Captain nemo's is my number 1, though 3 (out of 3) fish I have purchased there have ich. Qt is necessary.
I work in West Chester and Frazer is on my way home, so Frazer Zoo is my lfs by default. I like the guy that runs the place (Mike), but I wouldn't go out of my way to go there. I also really like east Coast Aquatics. I have purchased several fish there and they are always extremely healthy.

I'd say go to the Frazer Zoo. Nemo's barely sells coral, and their fish are usually sick.

I have been to just about all the places mentioned in this thread, and if I would have to rate them I would say Something Fishy and Eastcoast aquatics would be my top pics for livestock, and no one comes close to drygood prices from Thatfishplace.
LOL......And not going to Thatfishplace because you hate the Amish might be one of the craziest things I heard on here yet! That's like saying I don't go to Philly because I hate soft pretzels |

Frazer Zoo is great for corals. I was in last Friday and bought a medium size green torch for $49. Doing very well. Mike is very helpful. Even though the fish/coral room is small, it is packed with coral. Forget fish or dry goods though. Some dry goods but almost no fish.
Nemo's has good softies and decent prices. Ok LPS but prices are through the ceiling. $200 for any brain coral I saw. Fish are terrible. Most are sick or near death. Hidden Reef is also now terrible. The new store is 3-4 times the size of the old and they have hardly any fish, corals are ok but relatively high prices. The last two times I was their they had no live rock at all. Great prices on dry goods but it seems that every time I go their for something specific they are out of stock. They did not even have Instant Ocean in stock last time I went. |

Its a bit more of a drive but put in another vote for Something Fishy in Northampton PA. www.toofishy.com. Occasionally I see they have a banner ad on this site too. Great knowledge, great equpment selection, great livestock, coral, rock, and display tanks. Selection is better than Nemos, it is all around better than nemos... Not as flashy though.
