Any U tube overflow is better than the CPR. The CPR cant maintain a siphon without the aid of a vacuum pump such as an Aqualifter.

I agree. Lifereef makes some very nice u-tube overflows.

Never used a cpr style, but my Eshopps has been running without a hitch for 6 or 8 months now.

have used both of them and like the Eshopps better.

The CPR overflow worked fine but the use of the lifter pump to keep the siphon always scared me. I had to constantly check to make sure the pump was working correctly. I also could not get anything up in the CPR overflow to clean out the algea that was growing in the section that went up and over the tank. Worried that one day the algea would reduce the flow too much.

The Eshopps was a bit noisy at first but using a piece of airline tubing in the overflow to get air in has really reduced the noise to a comfortable level. Algea will grow in the U tubes but it is easily removed and cleaned. Power has gone out and the tubes did not lose the siphon and started right back up when the power came on. No other issues in the year I have been using the Eshopps.

I have used both and like the eshopps more, the cpr was not bad though. The CPR needs a pump and costs more$$$$
