Best skimmer for 350 gal system?

Looking for opinions on the upper-end side for 350 gal system, in-sump. Willing to spend a little more cash for a skimmer that doesn't have a history of issues. Thanks.

You might want to take a look at this skimmer http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1809748. Seems to have done it's job flawlessly on this guys tank.

ATB all the way IMO! The 10.5 deluxe is a excelent piece of equipment, but I think most of there stuff is well engineered.

I have considered ATB, but isn't their pump a sicce and not askoll? Is the 10.5 big enough for 350? I'm also curious as to opinions between the SWC 250 1a cone and the Super Reef Octopus XP 5000. I hear good things about the BB but even better about the askoll. Any disgruntled customers out there with either of these skimmers?

My 10.5 has an askoll, and it works very well on my system. I have a total water volume of about 400g and it's the best I have ever used.

Why did you chose it over the SWC cone? How long have you had it up? Any chance you could forward Mojo's recommendation?

I am very happy with my SWC 1A Cone Skimmer. My tank is only 180-gallon, but the skimmer body is huge and the Askoll is a beast, it can handle 350-gallons

Why the 300a over the 1a cone?

Why the Octo 5000 over the 1a cone?

I'm interested in hearing what design and quality features people think are better.

I believe they will both skim the tank well. The cone costs more and if you can snag oa 300a from marine solutions ( don't see any on their site atm, might call them) they have them on sale and free shipping which makes for a sweet deal.

I prefer the askoll pump over the bubbleblaster.

In the end the 3 you are debating on now are going to perform all about the same. If you don't mind waiting for the 1a to come in stock and don't mind paying the extra cash go that route.

My vote would be for an Alpha 300 cone skimmer. Might be a bit overkill and expenive for your system but it is now my favorite skimmer and I have used all kinds. You could probably do just fine with an Alpha 200 too.

Yikes, that thing is a monster. I dont think I need a skimmer running multiple pumps and multiple the headaches.

I have used both the 300A and the SWC Askoll cone. IMO, I see a much better and a more consistent skim with the cone. The 300 is a lot more turbulant in the body and the neck, where the cone has a very stable bubble colume all the way to the breaking point in the neck. Both would do a great job of skimming for your system.

I just bought a Bubble King Supermarin 250 with the red dragon II pump for a 350g system. I'll let you know how it works out. For the money, it better rock!
