250W-20k reeflux bulb issues.

We purchase 3 - 20K reeflux bulbs. Two of them are white, white, white, more like the 10K bulbs, the other is a nice pleasing blue. Swapped them around ruling out the ballast, cords, reflectors, etc. Nothing changes.

Any suggestions?

what is all this talk about nipples?! I'm hoping I might learn something here that helps the way my bulbs burn!

has to be pointed straight up for correct color not 3, 6, 9, but 12:00. Away from water what ever you want to call it. That is the only correct way to fire the bulb to the right color.

OK I'm going to ask the obvious question, are all three bulbs marked 20K ? Maybe the vendor who sold you these bulbs, sold you some bulbs that were returned for burning too white. Like the 20K bulbs I returned !

yes, the bulbs and tubes are all marked 20K. Tried one of the 400W 20K last night and it appears to be a 20K. So as of now, I am 2 for 2.

Nipple placement made very little difference. Thanks for the idea though.

According to the manufacturer the nipple must be pointed up for the bulb to burn correctly. I called to find out.....also it extends the life of the lamp.

Keep in mind the RL 20k bulb isn't that blue blue imho .Prolly explains why it has more par than a RL 12k I had a ballast issue and sent the bulb and ballast back and they sent out a new bulb . Some user's are noticing a shift to the white after a few months . Some are not . Kinda hit and miss . Even though it's not as blue as I would like, it is doing some justice for my corals colors just not eyes .

I do not disagree with that at all, but 3 new identical bulbs during the first 3 days of use, should be very close in color.

CoralVue is taking care of the issue and responded within 8 hours of contact.

Excellent customer service.

Excellent customer service.

Not to be bashing CV . But I would say QC is non existent to a degree. Kind of reminded me of a comparison of RL 12k and Primo beer . U can buy a case but might get 24 assorted flavors . LOL .Anywho Cv took care of my issue too
Any other user of the 250 RL 20k se just sent them back and CV took care of business .

Love to hear if you get all three right . Plse keep us posted on this .

I have the same issue with my Reeflux 20k 250w moguls that I purchased 3 months ago. Both bulbs are marked 20k but I swear one of them looks like it is 10k or the 14k bulb. I did not call the vendor as I thought it needed burn-in, but I should have. Too late for me now. I do love the look of the 20k bulb though.

Not too late. I sent two 20k 250w DE back after three months. They replaced them both (w/ 12K's). I'm pretty sure they know there's an issue with these bulbs.

reeflux mogul

I bought the bulbs on 11/19/2009 from Fishy Business. I will see what they can do as far as the bulb goes.
