Ricordea splitting chemically?

Anyone ever heard of making ric's split chemically? I heard using magnesium in a turkey baster and applied to the rics would cause them to split....

High stress and ussually kills them but yes I have seen it done with limited success

I had one split into four healthy ones in a neglected tank a long time ago
