Need help picking skimmer
My #1 concern is noise. I have a warner as-150 and the noise is unbearable. I even sold my vortechs in favor of tunzes because I hate noise that much. I am looking at the 9010 or the 9410. The skimmer will be placed in sump. I have a 90 gallon display with about a 20 gallon sump. I have a light bio load, 1 yellow tang and 2 clown fish and a few acros. The bioload will increase gradually however. Do I have to buy the extension set for the 9010 to use in sump? Is there any benefit of the 9410 over the 9010 or vice versa? Thanks.

The 9011 is the new version of 9010 and these are just now arriving to dealers. I think Reef Exotics will have some available. For the quietest this would be the best choice, I don't think it is possible for a skimmer to be quieter. The extension set is included with the 9010 and 9011, it is only optional with the 9005/9006. The 9410 is at least 25% stronger, it is a needlewheel skimmer while the 9011 is a venturi skimmer, this means the 9410 has smaller bubbles and more of them so more will be removed. The 9410 is quiet, but not as quiet as the 9011.

I will say from my experience and my opinion the 9410 a very nice skimmer and worth the little extra noise and money over the 9010. I just much prefer the setup and feel it is easier to work with. Having owned a AS150 in the past I will say either choice will be a big difference
