Lighting for a 30 gal reef?

My name is Aaron. Im in the process of setting up a 29 gal reef tank. I have had a few FOWLR tanks. Ive found a Metal Halide light. Do I need one for my tank? Is it beneficial to have one? The length of the aquarium is 30"L x 12 1/2"W x 18"H. The light in question are 11"L x 9"W x 4"H. They are Sunlight Supply Reef Optix 3 HQI Metal Halide Fixture for $127. Is that good enough? Also is there any other equipment I need?

Please help,

Aaron

I think a clip on pendent would be pretty cool on a tank this size. I like the modern look of them.
