Whats wrong with my blue tang?

My blue tangs black stripe keeps shifting between black and a whitish gray color. Is there something wrong?

do you only see this when the lights have been shut off?
If so it can be normal...

It just happened today when the lights were on and it keeps switching back and forth every minute or so.

Normal. Most tangs have multiple colour modes depending on their mood at any particular time. Most also change to an alternate colour at night.

yeah mine gets a little goofy from time to time paling out for a few minutes and chasing bubbles. Tangs are crazy, and once established (especially if they have any size on them) they are the hardiest of fish you can have in a tank, and they will eat you out of house and home!
