SWC 250A vs SWC 250 1A vs Vertex Alpha 200

What's the difference between a Cone and a regular skimmer? Is a Cone Skimmer that much better? The SWC 250A is only rated for 250 while the 250 1A is rated for 400! Why is the 1A so much better?

ALso, Which is a better choice? SWC 250 1A or Vertex Alpha 200?
