Ocean water for set up 115g tank help please
My friend is getting a used 115 salt water tank. She has access to water that feeds from the ocean to the local dolphin Marineland tank here in Florida...
will this be safe for her to set up her tank initially .....? It is currently a salt water tank using local canal water for salt water captive fish....she will be wanting a reef tank.... |

Depending on how much money u plan on spending for reef animals, I would think mixing your own water (ro/di) would be better. You can add or lower minerals as needed, and who knows what kind of parasites you might get!

I would not take the chance using that water to high of a chance of exporting pollutants into your tank. In the ocean it is diluted but in that size of a tank it is to little water to dilute out the toxins. A lot better and safer making up your own water.

yes the water may not be high quality, a little risky imo
