Vortech MP10 performance questions

I have a 48" x 18" tank.. I want to place a MP10 on one end just to compliment the returns from the sump.. I am a little crowded with rock and have minimal places to be able to put it without a rock being 6" in front of it..

I can put it on the back wall, but again, 18" away is another glass wall.. Not to mention, I'd be grazing rock work all ove rthe place with the current produced by the pump.. Not alot of open space..

I am thinking about placing it on the side, will it reach 48" across the tank? Does this all make sense? Here's a couple pictures of when my tank was empty, maybe that will help you to see what I mean as far as placement goes..

2 top down pics and a front view.. I wanted to place the mp10 in the top left corner of the far right side of the tank.. Aiming the mp10 across the front of the tank length wise.. does this make sense?

An MP10 will not effectively reach the far end of a 4 foot tank if you place it on one of the side panels. I have two MP40s in a 77 gal 4 foot long tank for the simple reason that a single MP40 did not move sufficient water at the far end without supplemental flow using additional powerheads. One of the MP40s is only about two inches from a piece of live rock with zoanthids on it and it hasn't been a problem, the flow from these pumps is very broad. I must add though, that I have the two pumps dialed down so that they do not run at 100%. If you do decide to use an MP10, distance from your rockwork should not be an issue since these are totally adjustable with respect to flow as well. Once you have one of these in your hot little hands, the best thing to do is experiment with placement to find the best solution for your particular system. After a quick look at your photos, any size of EcoTech pump should not be a problem to use.
