Acrylic Background Color Recommendation

Hey Guys,

I am ordering a new acrylic tank and was presented with the obvious question of "what color background, blue or black?". I've had a acrylic tank in the past with a blue background and I was happy with it for the most part, but I also hear from others that black has it's advantages as well (appears less dirty, ect...) I am thinking of trying black this time.

What's your opinion and why?

Thanks in advance!!

I had a glass tank that had a black background.. i couldnt stand it.. out came the razor blade and off came the paint.. it made the tank toooooooooooooo dark in my opinion and it was just a fowlr tank.. ofcourse since it was just a fowlr tank i did not run high powered lights.

Black, I think the corals stand out better against black than blue. Blue (unless it is a very dark blue) looks less natural to me than black.

Yeah I hear ya... I should say that I will have two 250w MH and 2 100w Compact Florescents, and that this will be a 90 gal 48x24x18 tank.

My 48x24x24 120g with black on 3 sides (in-wall).

Some like black, some like blue, your choice is what matters.

Hope the pic helps (FOWLR with minimal PC lighting)
