Reef Savvy?

I'm just wondering how many of you guys have had tanks made by Felix down at Reef Savvy and how well they came out. Please let me know, and post pics of your Reef Savvy tanks if you don't mind! I'm contemplating going with glass when I buy my big tank and would like to see the work they do.

Thanks!

Here are some pictures of my aquarium just received it today. Felix is a great guy to work with, he always answered any question I had and gave me some actually good advice that I went ahead and used in my aquarium. Would definitely order from him again.
Here is a link for some pictures

I could not be happier working with Felix, he made a few small suggestions along the way that I think will end up making the difference. I am going for an clean high end look with my new system, his work I think will help me achieve that. Its been sitting at my house since early February waiting on me to get all the parts together..... Soon!

Rimless, 1/2" glass with black silicone, blacked out back glass and a glass holes 1500 overflow

Custom rimless frag tanks, 1/2" glass to match main tank, blacked out on 2 sides, gl*******s nano overflow.

Early rough draft of the layout, which has changed significantly.

i think i was one of the first tank owner from felix that posted here on rc. My tank is coming on 1 year old now. His tank quality is equal to elos. Felix is also easy to work with. you can check out mine by checking my home page. btw that's a nice setup whodey64 but did you consider how difficult the sides of the tank may be to scrape because the frag tanks are so near? will you be able to use a magnet cleaner? just a thought.

Yup, they are nearly 10" apart in the final layout, tight but workable.

awesome setup whodey.....

there's a saying that word of mouth is the absolute best form of marketing you can have. Well, the problem with that is that there are two ways to get word of mouth to spread...
1) You're either really, really bad or
2) You're really, really good.

You never hear buzz about the restaurant that was just ok.

Well, ReefSaavy's buzz around the forums is definitely not because they are bad or just OK, they are excellent.

I actually heard about them because someone in my club had him build a sump and they liked it. I had just never heard of the company before so I'm doing my due diligence before commiting. (as I'm sure you'd all do) I've spoken with him on the phone and via email and he's great, I just wanted to see examples of their work. I'm nervous about who I choose as this tank maker due to it's size. I'm CONTEMPLATING (don't hold me to it lol) having a 130x72x26 built. Yes, that's dang near 11x6x2. I'm not saying anything in my club until I know for sure that it's going to happen. I don't want people looking forward to it and being disapointed. hahaha A tank like that needs to be built right for sure, I don't want 1000 gallons of water ruining my house.

Does anyone in this club have a tank this size? If so, is it glass or acrylic? Is there an advantage to one over the other when you're talking about this SIZE? I know the pros and cons to glass and acrylic, but not when talking about 11x6. All things being equal, I'd want glass. I HATE acrylic...my current 375 (8'x30"x30") is acrylic...and is for sale!

And don't worry, if I pull the trigger on this beast and have Felix build it, I'll post pics for you all. Which reminds me of ANOTHER point...I plan on putting this in the garage should I go with it, and have it viewable from inside the house. (hole in the wall) Do any of you have tanks in the garage? And if so, how do you account for the heat and humidity? Did you have to 'finish' the garage? And if I have to insulate the garage, what would I do with the garage door?

I currently have a build thread going with a tank and sump made by Felix and while it is nowhere that size, I will say that his are the best quality tanks I have seen out there bar none. I have seen a few large tanks from him and none have been below par and have never heard of any problems with any of them.

He is also now being contacted by companies in NY and PA to build tanks for them and I dont think you get that way from not doing awesome work.

You know that if you don't do it now you just disappointed everyone in this club...lol

Man..that is a monster tank!!!! That's 1053.5 gallons. You literally could snorkel in it.

As for glass vs acrylic, for a tank that size I have no idea but yeah, I also hate acrylic...no matter what you do, eventually, it's gonna scratch.

At any rate, I cant wait to see the build thread.....that's going to be amazing...maybe.

Definitely keep doing your homework though...I think Felix would tell you the same thing.

As for the garage stuff, I know there are a few folks down here that have done that but I personally have not so I have no idea....Im sure someone will chime in though.

gluck!

Man youre only five hours away and you've never been down here?

My advice come visit, but the go back to where you came from......I think this is a great vacation town but living here gets old.....

As for the Canes.....blah. Not a college sports fan. GO FINS! (glad your a giants fan and not a Jets fan. If that were the case you'd be quickly unadopted!)

Is that a sticker or is it etched into the glass?

it's in a place too that if you use a canopy it gets covered up.

I'm very close to placing an order with Reef Savvy for a starphire, rimless, 48x24x18 tank. Not sure if I should go with the 1500 overflow w/ built in return, or a 700 overflow with two returns.

Was planning on using a couple MP 20's or 40's for circulation....do you guys think the 600-700gph will be sufficient for a return flow rate?

I just hate overflows in general and the smaller the better.

My other option was going with two X-InOut's
