Swc skimmer ?

I bought a swc xtreme 200 for my 55 and my brother has a swc xtreme 250a for his 90 gal. Both us have just recently restarted our tanks. My question has anyone else notice on their Swc skimmer that durning the break in period did the water level in the skimmer go up and down until it broke in. Both of ours the water level changes through out the day. The skimmer is in 8" of water I have the water level in the skimmer to break at where the cone starts, but when I get home the water level will be down a couple of inches and then by morning its back up again. I am getting some skimate. I was just wondering if this is normal durning the break in period. Thank you for reading and any comments or suggestions.

I know the water level in my swc xtreme 200 will change if any food, additives, etc. are introduced. It normally corrects itself within a few hours.
