strange small anemone (id help plz)
Now, I've heard to assume that all hitchhiking anemones are evil.. but i'm still trying to get a decent id.
I have two tiny (1mm or less) anemones that seem to have hitchhiked. They hide from the light during the day, (150w MH and 2 36w PCs.) They don't look like any pictures i've seen of mojano's or aips. They are clear, and have what appears to be tiny white bubbles at the tips of their tentacles. I tried getting pictures, but their locations/size are making it difficult to get one that is decent. |

forgot to mention i've been watching them for roughly 3 months now and it seems as though there has been minimal growth, and zero reproduction, (that i have found).

Here are three sites with pictures of common hitchhikers, see if you can find it, it is impossible to tell from just a description.

Tagging along. I have the Same. I just posted thinking they were Strawberry anenomes...
Taking a pic is very difficult . Check out my album, as I posted a web pic of one. Is it the same as yours? Is there a base or stem like a featherduster? Let me know please, cause mine are reproducing. |

Ok, figured it out. Looks like pseudocorynactis to me. Try googling it to verify.
There are two types of pseudo, one stays small and is harmless, the other gets big and has a reputation for snagging fish. Neither are pests in the sense of Aiptasia or Majano - they don't typically take over your tank and aren't hard to get rid of if you want. They can be quite pretty. |
