killing aiptasia during tank transfer?
In the somewhat near future I will be doing a tank upgrade and was wondering if there is a way to kill the aiptasia without hurting the corals.
could I just dip the parts of rock where there is no coral in freshwater? could I use a propane torch? should I just pry corals off the rocks theyre attached to and do something else? any help is appreciated thanks all. |

You can superglue the holes they come out of so they can't come out... Or try Aiptasia X or Joe's Juice...

Kalkwasser is a great option. It paralyzes the aptasia before it can retract and melts it.
Do it in the tank you are upgrading from. We feed our tank, they come out and feed as well, then they get a good dose of the Kalk. Works everytime

Aiptasia
Depends if your a DIY junkie you probably got a gas soldering iron? or maby you got a creme brule burner? Go midevil on them and burn them to smithereens while stone is up anyhow. another way is buy the Joes juice or some aiptasia X.
Cheaper solution tho since your moving the rock anyhow is vinegar 35% in a syringe and go play Aiptasia junkie n hit em where it hurts. When you're moved in I'd suggest getting some peppermint shrimp to get the last minies that you missed (trust me you'll miss some). |
