My 55 Gallon Reef
This is my 55 gallon nothing too special right now im gonna be adding overflows and sump soon. It has been set up since january of 2009, it has PC Lighting an aquac Remora skimmer and a fluval filter which i will ditch once my sump is set up. I just want to know what you guys think of it ive put a lot of time, effort and most of all MONEY in to it lol. Im gonna be upgrading to a bigger tank this year this was my second learning tank before moving up i started with a 34 gallon red sea max. Everything in the tank is in great health corals, fish, inverts EVERYTHING. I got the tangs in february of 2009 and they have GROWN because of this i want them and the corals to have plenty of room so thats why ill be upgrading. Im extremely proud of my tank so i wanted to know what you all think. Im 18 and been in the hobby for about 3 years now

I like the full look of the tank. What size powerheads are those and how many do you have. It looks like 3 koralias? I'm asking because I have a 55 as well and I'm still trying to get my flow right.

How big are you upgrading to? And when you do the upgrade, are you upgrading the lighting too?

You might want to hold onto the cannister filter even after you get a sump. Empty out your filter media and you can run phosban and carbon in it.

Good job on the tank, and keep the good work up. Because the 55g's are so narrow, they are tough to aqua-scape. You, however, did a fine job. Good luck on the upgrade; you will love having the depth to scape with.

Looks great. What are the corals on the very top almost reaching the top of the water? Also, those shrooms are sick!

Looks pretty good so far
You do know that those tangs will outgrow that tank right? Even a 75 gallon would be too small for both of them....might be something to think about. |

A 55, 75, 90, 120 are all too small for the hippo. You need to be going to at least a 6' tank for a hippo tang. |

Yep you did. If someone has a hippo in a 55 and is upgrading to a 75'ish, then it should be said that it's not an appropriate upgrade for the fish. That's just in case the person doesn't know...unless they know and are going to do it anyway.
