my new 92 corner from aqueon :)
hey all !!!
well i finaly got the tank set up,after having to leave the hobby for a few years, the job had me away from home to much ![]() i couldn't wait to get back in it.. so in my 92 corner i have 3 max jet 1200 on a natural wave power bar 1 coralia #3 set on a separate braker in case the other jumps !!! return pump is the quiet one 3000 2 150w heathers doc tunze 9410 skimer and a 6 stage RO system i also built my own sump out of acrylic, that was fun and i'm very pleased with the results. things on the way that should get here early this week are my hamiltontek 24" 250w 10k MH with 4 t5 actinics a controler for the lights, heaters ect ect i should have the live rock in this week about 100 lbs +/- depending on the rock work i make of it ![]() eventualy i will go with tunze power heads but right now i have to return that wave maker ??? after a couple cycles it stops alternating the power heads and only keeps #1 going !!!! (i had a tsunami controler in the past) wish i had it now ![]() here's a few pics i took and will have more as it goes the sump with skimer, centre section for a small rufugium and return on the end. perfect fit for the sump ![]() then the RO system slowly filling the tank. right now the tank is full and running ,i'm adjusting the salinity thanks for looking steff |

I have a 92 fish only and I am thinking of converting to a reef so I am tagging along to see how you do it!

got lights and some ive rocks
my lights came in this week
![]() and running, took a good 3h to hang them. now i need to find that post were i saw a system that you can adjust the hight of them !!! the hamilton tech looks real nice with the 250w 10k and the 4 t5 actinics realy well made with nice reflectors and two fans. the wires are set up so that you can go 3 stage lighting if you want to plus the LED for night watch. i also built a shield that goes arround the tank 1-to hide the lights for when sitting down near the reef 2-to prevent jumpers 3-to keep my bengal cat from taking a swim ![]() finaly i picked up a first load of rocks maybe 60 lbs or so now i need to get more here's a few pictures of it so far steff |

That's a sweet setup you have going there. I especially like what you have done with your custom canopy build. Is sounds like you are leaving the canopy open on the top for ventalation. Is that your plan or is there a top in the works? I have the same 92 and am thinking about making a open top canopy myself. Looking forward to seeing the final pics!
![]() Congrats! |

aquascaped :)
thanks all
![]() chrissu indeed,i plan on leaving the top open for ventilation. i will take a few more pics of it and on the plus side ![]() i painted the front of it black to match the stand and to hide the halides when sitting down. i've also cut grooves on the backside where you see the plugs running over top of the canopy so they don't run over it so it's easier to remove it. i got a reefkeeper lite with two pc4s and the ph probe and will be adding a fan to controle temps. great product but instruction aren't to clear for certain things ![]() i also added another pump on the far right side ,the new koralia 1040 they are said to work well with wave makers and timers !! so far so good ![]() water is great but the ph is a little low at 8.05 for now i'm doing 5 gal water changes weekly the rest is perfect. i have about 90 lbs of live rock with maybe 1 lb in the refuge in the sump i still havent added a light on it yet ![]() here are the latest pictures so far i've added some cuc last week a few more this week and a couple easy to keep corals but going slow and making sure all is in check.. i do have some cool letuce algea growing that camw with a piece of rock and some cactus caulopra i hope my future tang will love.. if not then i will just remove it.. steff |

That's a nice piece of landscaping you have going there. Keep posting pictures so we can watch your progress cuz it looks great!
You said "i painted the front of it black to match the stand and to hide the halides when sitting down." That is the part I am most concerned about as well. If your hood is able to hide the halides when sitting down, I'll be impressed. Don't want a bright/intense light shining in anyones eyes - right? I'm started my DIY canopy/hood this weekend. The front canopy face is cut and bent to approximate shape but still staped down for shape. That completes the questionable phase as I wasn't sure if I would be able to make this but it worked out pretty well. I'm probably going to make it a cross between a canopy front with a hooded style sides/back being wide open. |

thanks !! your tank looks real nice to,my wife wanted something like that
to have more swiming room for the fish ![]() i will post more pictures of the hood soon with the lights on,but what your saying is exacxtly the reason i painted it.i used black krylon/tremclad and had it completly opac in 4 coats..i just held it up to the sun to make sure. since my lights are 7" from the water with the 2" black strip (top rim) i used a 9" high piece so lights sit a couple inches below it. i wanted to use wood at first but it turned out to be to complicated, yours is looking great,i didn't make it past my plan on paper hehehe i used lexan sheets and used weld-on#16 same stuff used for the acrylic sump i made. the cool part!! is the plastic shop near my place cut all the pieces according to my plan and all i had to do is assemble it ,took about 1h to complete what you see in the first set of pics.. then i cut out grooves in the back for pump cords and painted it.. what i would love to find now is the post where i saw a system to hang the lights and you could raise or lower them..mine is set up on chaines so it's more dificult to raise and remove the canopy/shield in order to reach the bottom of this tank !!! is it ever deep to reach out back ![]() steff |

update
haven't posted recent pics so here we go.
you will noticed that the big frogspawn is gone ![]() lfs in exchange for a green long tentacle,my small clown fish won't learn and kept going into it,not that i minded other than affraid they would hurt it but he kept getting stung by it (badly) !!! i've added some nice species aswell not to many and it is somewhat early for certain but i'm confident that they will keep doing great. i do 2/3 small water changes a week and keep all parameters in check ![]() i added one montipora,a red acropora milipora ,a green and purple acropora, anothe small frag of acropora,a bluewish acropora. others are metalic green stars,a purple gorgonian,a branching frogspawn my clowns stay away from ![]() glad to say everything is doing great. the only thing i would change and may modifie it is my hood !!! don't get me wrong it real sweet, looks great and does the job BUT i should have made it so the front pan is removable while leaving the backsides in place,it's easy to do and would make life much easier to access the tank. the 92 corner is already a chalange to reach into and adding that extra high doesn't help ![]() enjoy the pics a feel free to comment !! steff |

here's a few corals i have
i'm still toying with my camera in order to get nice colors
pictures don't do justice !! the third one i'm still trying to research it since the name the lfs gave me and description doesn't seem to match !! he called it a stylopora and said it was a strong stinger ?? it's a bright metalic greem morph ,my books say that stylos aren't aggressive..it;s real nice and i have it in the centre for now mid hight to see if it likes the spot before gluing in place.. steff |

the lights i got from my lfs since they sell for about the same price
they do online !!close enought that it's worth supporting them and not worry about shipping, duties and waranty issues (i'm in canada) i got the cebu sun 24" 250 10k mh with 4 t5 actinics from hamiltontek for 539$ canadian.. here's a few pictures in one pic i've instaled the bracket accross the floor beams (i'm in the basement) and using chaines for now,i'm trying to find a cool gadget i saw on the forum somewhere of a cable type unit that you can raise and lower the lights at will ... steff |

update with pictures :)
hey !!! been a while since my last update so here are a few pictures
that you might see the growth on some of my corals ![]() for now my parameters are where i want them, the issues i had with PH were related to a fautly probe that i'm waiting for a replacement. i'v added a kalk reactor but it's not online yet, still testing it . i've lowered the flow from my tunze osmolator with an air valve but need to make sure i don't get air inside the hose otherwise it shoots up the slur into the chamber and i don't want that in my tank. worst case i will get a dosing pump with a low flow rate.. but that enough with that ![]() i've added a few acroporas,an acan, duncan, sun coral, zoas,a red coral on the right i can't remember the name !!! ![]() steff |

new photos ,after 11 months the growth is great, colors look good way better than the pictures !!!! still havnt figured that out yet
![]() my kalk reactor has been running for a while now and works great. i have it programed in with a seperate pump so it doses what i want and don`t rely on evaporation because that changes between seasons.. alk 8.3 cal 420 mag 1350 ph 8.2 temp 77.5 water change almost every week 5 gals and i still add a little 2 parts tropic marine with calcium twice a week..my corals are to the point they cosume more and more ,clams as well so i may need to think about a calcium reactor or a two part dosing system.. added a few new pieces and fish..things are doig great ![]() ![]() ![]() i still have some room for that special piece i could find ![]() here are the new pictures hope you enjoy steff |

Very beutiful display!
Have you removed any live rock as the coral grew? Do you still have plans to upgrade your powerheads? Again... you have talent in aquascaping. |

thanks for the kind words
![]() i haven`t removed any of the rock, hard to see in the pictures but some of my sps corals are encrusting and growing nicely over the rock and one acro is starting to shoot new branches from the new growth. my monti cap is growing like mad and the new pictures are taken 3 weeks after i had to break off some nice bi pieces to give away because it just keeps getting bigger and bigger in all directions..you can see how it`s growing over the side wall.. the hydnophora at the bottom is trarting to spread on the sand bed so i will move it closer to the rocks to see if it will encrust aswell.. chalice as doubled in size and looks sweet under the actinics !!! as most other corals hehe as for upgrading my power heads !!!i would still like to and thinking about it alot..the only thing holding me back is even if the maxjets are cheap and far from the tunze quality,i like that i can add the rotating nozzels on them so the flow shoots all over the place,my corals realy seem to love that. not syaing tunzes won`t be better, probably will but corals like my birdnest may react in a negative way if the flow changes, that and other corals. however i have a few in there i could maybe upgrade that don`t have the nozzles.. i agree about not having room under the cab !!! i had to build my own sump because nothing sold would work or fit with what i wanted..then add the ATO bucket, kalk reactor and your out of room ![]() if i would have known 1 year ago about mp 10s and 40s i probably would have left enought room for them and go that direction.but i only left enought room for the power cords and pump magnets and some little play !!! as you say it would be nice to have it flush but with the equipment !!! we just can`t..... again thanks for the comments ![]() steff |
