T5 lighting ?
Just interested in the types of differences anyone can give me off hand from either your own experience or from what you may have heard.
I plan on purchasing a T5 setup and have narrowed it down to 2 possibilities: Current Sundial and Tek T5 24" setups. The only thing with the Tek is that I would rather not put holes in my roof since I live in an apt. and want to make sure that it will be safe over my tank. I have seen many hangers behind tanks that hold these kind of lightings up and wonder where do I go to get these or are they easy to diy? I plan on keeping a mixture of corals (sps, lps and softies). So would the sundial be a bad investment if I can afford the Tek? Also if there are any other lighting fixtures that are more recommended in the same price range that information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Marc |

I would recommend the tek over the sundial, hands down no comparison. You can get tank mounts for the tek.

I would get some of the leg mounts but I have a 20 L tank and it seems to be hard finding 30" fixtures that would fit with legs. I have seen some ladder hanging arms at lowes, would these suffice? They say they will hold up to 40 lbs in just dry wall, and up to another 20 with a stud.

Also just to kind of add on: would an MH be too much heat and power for a 12" deep tank? If I were to raise it higher to prevent it from bleaching corals and causing too much heat in the tank would that defeat the purpose of the MH?
