return pump filter question

i have 125 gallon tank 29 gallon with a refug and and 20 gallon tall with a bubble magus skimmer sumps are connected together. filter socks on the drains. i have a laguna 3000 return pump that has a sponge filter on it. i was wondering if i should remove the sponge filter on the pump. the tank has been running for 5 months i have 2 clowns rose bubble tip anemone 3 bangaii cardinals emerald crab 15 nassuris snails 15 hermits 5 turbos some coral and mushroom frags .
so back to the question SHOULD I REMOVE THE SPONGE FILTER?

unless you want to do weekly maintenance on the pump to clean the sponge, I'd take it out. It's not worth the hassle, and most people (myself included) forget that the sponge is there and it just becomes a nitrate factory.
