Miracle Mud ????

Just picked a a 'new' CPR refugium from one of my son's customers who decided not to use it.
Is Miracle Mud /Walt Smith Fiji Mud ???? worth the cost if stocking with Macro-Algae?
Thanks for responses.

I ran my 75 gallon reef skimmerless using Miracle mud for over 2 years...hardly ever needed to do water changes and everything was growing and swimming fine I'm a big proponent.

Full reef with a 4" sand bed 20 gallon sump with mud and planted grape and other caulerpa. Every few weeks I would harvest excess caulerpa sell to friends or donate to the club. Was chock full of copods as well.

If you were into seagrasses,or had a problem with nitrates, then it would make a difference. But other than that,IMO,you really don't need the mud to grow algae. They do grow well with it,though,it's just not a necessity.

I would say miracle mud should be simple called mud. It isn't a miracle to the reefing world, but it doesn't hurt to have it in your sump either. I personally think the cost is a little high for what it is, but then again what isn't.
