Hydor Koralia 1400 on a wave master pro still clicking

Hey all,

I just got a new Hydor Koralia Evo 1400. They are advertised as being able to go on a timer/wavemaker with out the clicking and clacking associated with the old Koralia's. I am finding that this new one still does. My question is are other people experiencing this? Do you have a 1400 on a wave maker? Is it silent on and off? Dead silent? Maybe I have a defective unit?

Thanks for the feedback.

Did you get the new bushings yet? The bushings that are in it originally can come loose and cause it to make noise on start up.

I dont know. I took it out of the box rinsed it off and plugged it in. Do I need to get additional bushings?

I would contact Hydor and tell them you want the new bushings.

I have 3 on a RedSea WaveMaker and yes they do clack and clunck almost as bad as the old ones. The prop seems to hit the rubber stop on the cover about 50 percent of the time on starting. I believe this issue has nothing to do with the bushing coming out as mine do not have that problem. They are really quiet when they run but the start up issue is a joke!!! Come on they didn't see this during testing and trials?

Yea, thats what Im thinking. The whole point i thought was quiet start up but I guess not. what a drag... i think i will go vortech asap. although some people are saying they are dead silent on a wavemaker, mine are not. confusing ...

The bushing is probably loose thats why they are sliding forward, the bushing is on the backside of the plate the impeller is on. Pop them open and look on the backside of the plate I bet the bushing is out of place.

My 3? makes noise but the 4? is dead silent (not sure on the numbers without looking). The 3 even runs backwards about every third start.

Took one out to check the bushing again and as I figured it's still in place.Cleaned it up with Dawn and put some super glue on the bushing to make sure it wasn't sliding on me. Looks like it made no difference on start up noise.

If your pumps are starting backwards, give hydor a call and they will send you new bushings for free.

Arrgghh. I took mine out and the bushing is sitting correctly. It never starts backwards so I am guessing I'm stuck with the noise.

Just so people know they still click a bunch when they start up although not as bad as the old ones.

I heard you can use these pumps on a seio controller for silent operation. I have 3 1400 and used them on a naturalwave pump timer they made a click on every start. I have a mag 7 and its completely silent on startup. I will have to get a seio controller as I read they dont ever completely turn your powerhead off.

BTW my 1400 have the new bushings

I have 3 1400's running 2 right now one in the kalk top off and one in the dt. They are not well made. They stop all of a sudden on me weekly. When they stop I have to takem apart and then put them back in. Pita!

When they run they are pretty quiet.
