New Fairy Wrasse still hiding or dead??
I added a Male Tricolor Fairy Wrassse, or I think its called a Lubbock wrasse as well. I have a 90 gallon with a lot of rock wth nice holes in it, its the eco rock from Bulk Reef Supply. When I put him in he kind of swam funny and had a white spot on his scales in the back, not like ick but more like a sore. The clowns did not like him at all and chased him, and when he got close to the royal gramma, the gramma opened his mouth huge, never seen him do that. So anyways he was out for like an hour or 2 and haven't seem him since. Its been almost 2 days and have not seen him. I know they are jumpers and my tank is covered well with the light and that back part I have eggcrate with bird net covering it, so I know he didn't jump and hes not in the overflow. How long do they usually hide for and anyway to find out if hes dead in the rock? I have a lot of snails, crabs and 2 red brittle starfish, so I think they would consume him fast if he died. I have tried looking for him in the rock with a flashlight but can't seem to find him. But I can't see in the rock all the way, many holes for him to hide.

I have read that they can hide for like 2 or 3 days, but I think He died. Any way to try and get him out of the rocks like with a powerhead, or do you think the CUC would clean him up?

the fairies will hide in the rock work and can do so for days . that sore combined with the harassment issue is not good and i would consider yourself very lucky if he survives . the clowns are to territorial and also the grama is a pita if you ask me ,so it you want to keep peaceful community fish in your tank you will have to consider removing the aggressors first as they simply wont tolerate newcomers as you have just found out . i do have a morey eel that will stand strong to their aggressiveness though ,just let me know .

If your water is good, and nothing else is hurting in the tank, it is still hiding. It took a week for my purple fire fish to eventually come out. It took my CBS 2 months to find, I was confident it died, and then there it was.

well i have a fire goby, and have had him for 4 months, then 2 weeks ago i got my first clown fish. i didn't see him for 4 days so i moved "His" rock and he took off so fast, he hit the back of the tank, then the lid, then i raised my hand above my head to catch him and he hit my hand and fell in the water change bucket. i put him back in the tank, and didn't see him umtill about 4 days ago, and he has been spending more time out of his place, and even gose and feeds with the other fish.
it scared me a lot when he jumped, since i expected to get him outa that rock with the net, dead! |

I put a Melanarus Wrasse in and didn't see him until over a week later, and even then, I saw him when it was lights out. That was last week and I haven't seen him again since... Seems he was being harassed by my hawkfish (mean little bugger) so I figure he's just hiding out somewhere. If it goes on any longer I'm thinking of getting rid of my hawk as he's one aggressive mofo...

I wouldnt call it dead until you havent seen it for two weeks. Wrasses hide for several days after introduction.
