LED heat sink sizing?

Hello,

I was wondering if there was a link somewhere or a general rule of thumb for heat sink thickness and surface area required for LEDs. Maybe for an array of 24 LEDS in a 12x8 or 12x12 foot print if possible?

Thanks,
Dien

I think it depends whether if your using fans or not.. also the amount of fins you have and the type of material... but i would say that most heat sinks wont do much cooling without fans...
