39 CAD sig. series or 28 jbj led nano cube?

Hello all,

I am trying to decide between the 39 gallon CAD signiture series nano tank and the JBJ led nano cube. The CAD is a couple hundred dollars more, buton seems a bit more advanced. I not exactly sure what I want to keep in it yet. Does anyone have any expierience with either of these? Thanks.

I have the 39g Signature myself for 2 years and its a great tank. its beautifully made and the equipment is way better than the JBJ. the frameless design is 8mm thick and it comes with a full refugium, high performance 70 Pin-wheel skimmer, cooling fan, refugium light and 150W HQI LED system and 500GPh pump. overall. its got lots of higher quality stuff that you dont have to upgrade later on. if you add up the upgrades you will need from the JBJ to the CAD Signature, you will wind up spending more and it wont fit so perfectly either, or possibly you may even crack something like i have seen on the forums.

I have the black cabinet but if i was to buy it again, i would definitely get the Solid Cherry cabinet.

I have the JBJ led and haven't had a problem with it. I don't know what you'd need to really "upgrade" other than the return pumps but I just got an MP10 anyway so i'm not even gonna bother upgrading anything. Also, low electricity bills and not needing a chiller were big factors in deciding for me. Obviously you don't need to upgrade the lights if you're getting the led model and not having to replace a bulb every 6-12 months is a plus. I have LPS on the sandbed and they're doing great. It doesn't have a refugium or skimmer but I'm not even gonna get a skimmer and the middle compartment has chaeto and that seems to do the trick. I just stick to water changes every 1-3 weeks and everythings growing like crazy.

Hope that helps.

Whichever one you get i'd definitely stick with the LEDs though I like them way better than MH.

i think a skimmer is one of the most important things to get in a saltwater system esspecially in a reef.

People can debate about that all day long. Just giving my personal experience. In a nano tank with regular waterchanges/chaeto and LPS corals, i haven't had the need for one and haven't lost a coral or fish yet. On my larger tank I did go with a skimmer however.

In the description for the signiture series it claims that you do not need a chiller if the surrounding temps are below 89 degrees. Do you use one?

Besides upgrading to an MP10, do you use any other extra or external equipment? I like my setup to be as "clean" looking as possible. Also do you use an ato system or do you manually top off the evaporated water?

nope, the mp10 is the only thing I use and I manually top off every 4 or 5 days. it evaporates really slow. it's a really simple set-up and works great for me.
