NOOB NEEDS HELP WITH LED Lights HELP!!

So I want to get LED lights for my Tank which i am setting up slowly. I have found this website which has this LED lights but dont know if they are powerful enough for my 90 gal tank i plan on having corals and fish. here is the link for the lights : http://www.ledlight.com/par38-ultra-...led-light.aspx . Also do you guys know of any good LED lighting tht doesnt cost an arm and a leg? lets not forget the physical therapy either.

Why not go with a good T5 fixture? It will cost you a lot less and will be fine for what you want to keep.

i dont want to buy a new bulb every 6months with LED ur lights are good for 5 Years. so u actually save money and get the same power just depends on the company ur getting the bulb from.

+1. These are the PAR38s you want to be using.

yea my buddy told me that too, if u look at the links they all have par 38 bulbs.

LED lighting is still VERY new. The 5 year life expectancy, to my knowledge, hasn't been fully tested for this application.

Generally LED fixtures are VERY expensive because there is not really any competition out there for the market because of legal wars over the technology.

I'm doing a DIY LED pendant, but just for fun basically at this point, and still not saving a ton of money

as far as T5 goes, that's what I'm using now. I replace lamps every 9 months. 6 months is pretty early, unless you're running >12 hr photo periods.

awesome tank!! yea i get ur point on the T5's but still when u factor in price for a bulb every 9 months plus the heat the t5's five compared to the LED'S they win hands down that and the LEDs are good for 5 years but if they give u even 2 years thts still better considering cost and heating issue. question on tangs seeing as how u have one, i wanted to put in a blue hippo with a naso or powder brown is that possible?. deff want a blue hippo.

I wouldn't put a Naso in anything less than an 8' long tank. Powder brown and blue hippo could go together if you added the hipo first. How big is your tank? I think a few people have used the PAR 38 to create spotlight points for coral to grow. I like the idea and way try it out in the near future myself.

it is a 60 watt led that outputs the same as a 250 watt MH
