These bright green sponge like things started growing a few months ago, I've searched and cannot find anything that looks like them, they all appear to have some kind of snorkel like tube ... take a look at the pics below and if you have any idea what they are please fill me in.

They are sponges, just like you said. Mine seem to come and go and mostly grow in the shaded areas of the tank.

Are we sure they are sponges?
With the "siphon" tubes it makes me wonder if the aren't tunicates.

look like sponges to me, either way they are harmless
