My New nano reef

hello all i recently pickd up this biocube 14 from the petco website because it was much cheaper than buying it in stores i got my sand and LR from my LFS although i think the rock looks a little weird, im thinking of replacing the bioballs with a refugeum of live rock and some sort of micro algae, i wwas wondering if i could do this in a few months or if that would be to complicated anyways give any questions comments or concerns thanks( i understand the water is a bit cloudy its cause i just moved some sand and rock around

To Reef Central

Looks like you are off to a great start! You definitely want to remove the bioballs. They really have no purpose in a reef tank other than trapping detritus which leads to elevated nitrates.

Post a trip report on the media basket - have a BC14 and was looking into getting one to replace the bioball chamber in mine as well. How is it fairing for you?
